Filmed in the Goethe-Institut in Dublin, “Näher” is a dance film that follows four lost souls as they move and gather in shared moments of remembrance, bringing life to haunted spaces new and old, evoking fleeting memories and suspended dreams. The film draws from the original production of “Näher… closer, nearer, sooner” commissioned by Goethe-Institut Irland on the occasion of its re-opening in 2018. It explored W.B. Yeats’ belief that the dead dream backwards through their lives. Journeying through the building, the choreography offered opportunities to dream back into the lives of the performers and share in their search for the moments of most meaning to them.
