Reading can spark discoveries and unveil new perspectives that help us see the world anew. At Goethe-Institut Irland, we want to create opportunities for young people to connect with themselves, each other, new ideas, and different cultures through literature.
We invite curious readers between the ages of 12 and 16 to join our bilingual (German and English) Young Adult Book Club. Each title can be borrowed from our library and both physical copies and e-books are available.
We’ll kick off in person at 17:30 on 16 September 2025, with Susan Kreller’s Elektrische Fische.
About Elektrische Fische:
Emma is 13 years old when her parents break up. Her homesick and heartbroken German mother decides that, after 20 years in Ireland, it’s time to move back to her small village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Emma and her siblings Dara and Aoife suddenly have to adapt to their new lives in Germany and try to make new friends—all while planning to get back to Ireland.
YA Book Club dates:
16/09/2025 in the Goethe-Institut Irland library: Elektrische Fische by Susan Kreller
