Sieger sein

We will have showings of kids' movies at the Goethe-Institut Irland up to three times per term. The recommend for the movies will alternate from 0-7 and 7-12 years. The showings will take place on saturdays after the Kids' Courses, between 1.15 and 3 pm.

The film in May will be Sieger sein (119 Min, 2024). Directed by Soleen Yusuf, starring Dileyla Agirman, Andreas Döhler and Sherine Ciara Merai. Recommended for ages 10-14.

Eleven-year-old Mona has fled Syria with her Kurdish family of seven and landed in Berlin, specifically in the Wedding district. There, she attends a notorious primary school. Ninety percent of the students are from immigrant backgrounds. She speaks hardly any German, but she does know how to play football. Mr. Che, a dedicated teacher, recognizes Mona's exceptional talent and takes her onto the girls' team. Well-intentioned, but anything but easy. Mona quickly becomes an outsider, and playing with the other girls proves more difficult than expected. Each of them fights her own battles, but it soon becomes clear: only by playing together can they win.
