We are offering dynamic A2-B1 level German language courses, designed to transform your teaching skills and language proficiency. You'll explore essential topics like family, hobbies, and personal preferences, gaining the confidence and competence to excel in your German classroom.
Engage with your peer group in weekly online sessions, where you'll strengthen your language skills and collaboratively develop innovative teaching strategies. Our interactive approach ensures you'll be prepared to bring vibrant German lessons to life.
The course provides a comprehensive toolkit, including:
Entry/Course level:
Course 1: the course will start at A2.1 (Thursdays); entry requirement completed A1
Course 2: the course will start at B1.1 (Thursdays); entry requirement completed A2
Course 3: the course will start at B1.2 (Wednesdays); entry requirement completed B1.1
Online live sessions via Zoom on Wednesdays (B1.2) or Thursdays (A2.1 or B1.1) from 6.00- 7.45pm (1 hr 45 minutes/week)
Asynchronous tutoring* (45 mins/week)
30 hrs in total
*Asynchronous tutoring offers targeted feedback, and collaborative forum discussions focused on contemporary methodological and didactic approaches. Teachers will actively engage in both oral and written language production tasks, receiving constructive feedback to enhance their communicative competence. Through reflective practice and peer interaction in dedicated forums, participants will critically examine and refine their own teaching methodologies, fostering continuous growth.
Minimum number of participants: 10
These courses are designed to enhance foreign language competence among primary teachers and to enable teachers to effectively teach foreign languages to primary school children in stage 4 (5th and 6th class).

- Be a registered Primary School Teacher
- A pre-entry placement test is required to be accepted for the correct course level.
- Active Participation in the course and an attendance of at least 80% to receive a certificate of participation.

The redeveloped Primary Curriculum Framework (NCCA, 2023) now includes a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Specification, highlighting the growing emphasis on multilingual education. Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) is collaborating with the Goethe-Institut and other providers to deliver suitable courses to support teachers in upskilling in their language of their choice to prepare for the introduction of the redeveloped Primary Curriculum Framework.These courses are designed to enhance foreign language competence among primary teachers and to enable teachers to effectively teach foreign languages to primary school children in stage 4 (5th and 6th class).
