The Design Project Idea

Short but precise description of the design project idea

Who had the idea? Connections to other projects? Who has the right to the idea?

Short presentation of the team: Which educational background, experiences and competences does the founder/the founding team have? In how far do they contribute to the realization of the project idea? Are there additional supporters? What is the motivation for the design project?

What are the concrete problems or needs that the design project idea caters to? How will the problem be solved? How is it possible to earn money with the idea? What kind of developments need to be undertaken for your product/service to become successful? How innovative/new is the product/service?

Does the design project idea responds to specific cultural needs? Does the design project idea has a social component and if yes how? Does the design project idea takes into account environmental aspects and if yes, which? Does the project idea have a social, cultural or environmental impact and if yes, which one?

What is the target market? What is the targeted market segment? Describe the projected market growth and potential

What is the unique selling point of the product or service? What is the customer value?

Who are the main competitors? What distinguishes your idea from them?

Who are the clients for the product/service? How do you plan to reach out to your clients? What are possible barriers to marketing and distribution and how do you plan to circumvent these barriers? Who are possible strategic partners or peers?

Business Planning

The financial planning for the business planning includes the calculation of revenue and expenses for the first year during which you start to make your developed product marketable. This planning should include your price model. This planning is not a budget you apply for, it should present the way how you envision and plan the financial market accessability of your product.

How do you organise yourself in order to develop/implement your project idea? What kind of team structure do you plan? How do you plan to register your team/entity (what are your possibilities)? What kind of time management is planned?

What are possible risks during the development of your product / service? Market access? What are the chances?

In which way can the grant support the planned design project? How and for what do you plan to use the financial support?

Budget and Action Plan

This budget plan should present what kind of costs you consider necessary during the grant period to implement your project idea as well as one year afterwards. This planning is not a budget you apply for, it should present your short-, mid- and long-term approach for a realistic and sustainable realisation, also after the grant period. Terms and Conditions


  • Commit to developing the design project throughout the duration of FANTASMEEM Forward
  • Present a mid-term report
  • Present a final report
  • Attend agreed regular meetings with mentors & deliver requested assignments given by mentors
  • Attend the workshops (the attendance of at least two workshops is obligatory)
  • Provide Goethe-Institut with financial reports of the material expenses
  • Commit to present work and share the knowledge
  • Provide regular updates on project process upon demand from the Goethe-Institut
  • Sign commitment consent
