AL-MU7AFFIZ Cultural Grant

The Goethe-Institut Libanon announces its second edition of AL-MU7AFFIZ, a cultural grant designed to serve as a catalyst, supporting and expediting the artistic endeavours of artists, collectives, and independent cultural practitioners. This initiative is aiming at providing financial backing, thereby strengthening, and energizing the local arts community.
In the current challenging context, continuing this initiative represents an important step in supporting artists and cultural practitioners, for whom the possibility to pursue their projects can be a meaningful source of stability and encouragement.

As part of the 2nd edition of the AL-MU7AFFIZ Cultural Grant, 10 projects were selected from 110 applications spanning visual arts, performance, moving image, critical and creative writing, artistic research, and professional development in the arts. The project time-frame is from 08 May till 08 November 2026.

The fund's mission is to provide targeted financial support to sustain Lebanon's cultural sector. By focusing on immediate support, the fund addresses urgent needs within the cultural community, enabling it to thrive and enrich Lebanon's cultural landscape.

The grantees were chosen by a jury of three experienced jurors following a careful evaluation process.

Projects were assessed based on artistic quality, clarity of vision, relevance of the proposed research or production, and feasibility within the seven-month grant period. The jury also considered the applicants’ commitment to their artistic practice, prior experience in the field, and the potential impact of the project’s outcomes, whether practical or theoretical.

Eligibility further required applicants to be based in Lebanon—individually or through at least one partner in joint applications—and to demonstrate the ability to carry out, document, and present the project upon completion. The responsible use of the support fund and the coherence between objectives, methodology, and expected results were also key selection criteria.

We are pleased to introduce the 2026 jury members and grantees.
