Online streaming program: Goethe on Demand

In cooperation with Filmgalerie 451 the Goethe-Institut is launching an online streaming program called Goethe on Demand. It contains a still small but exquisite selection of films, is free of charge and will be available worldwide until 30 June 2020. All films are available in the original German version, with English subtitles and with subtitles in a few additional languages.Unfortunately, due to license restrictions, not all titles are available in every country. To obtain a password/code that allows you to view one or more of these films, please contact your local Goethe-Institut. Please note that the password is for your personal use only.

Synopsis:Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull" in free, idiosyncratic appropriation, transposed into the here and now. Irene, actress at the theater, drives to her house on the lake, near Berlin, where her older brother Alex and her son Konstantin live. Summer, sun, bathing lake - on the outside an idyllic scenery, but the characters are entangled in themselves, and above the everyday scenes there is an atmosphere of tiredness, sadness and lost love: “Three days in summer, the end of a family, of which only there remains is still a rest ”(Schanelec).
