Voice for Change

Am 22. Mai 2025 um 16:30 Uhr findet die Eröffnung der Ausstellung „Voice for Change“ im Kulturzentrum Pabradė statt.

Als Teil von PERSPECTIVES hat das Goethe-Institut gemeinsam mit der Kunstagentur Artscape eine neue Initiative - die Veranstaltungsreihe „Voice for Change“ gestartet.

Zehntausende Geflüchtete und Asylbewerber*innen leben derzeit in Litauen. Einige von ihnen haben nur begrenzte Möglichkeiten, am gesellschaftlichen Leben teilzunehmen. Wie kann man diesen Gemeinschaften eine Stimme geben? Wie kann die Kunst helfen, einander und andere besser kennenzulernen?

„Voice for Change“ ist eine künstlerische und soziale Veranstaltungsreihe, die einen Raum für diejenigen schaffen soll, deren Geschichten oft ungehört bleiben. Die Reihe besteht aus zwei Teilen, in denen Artscape-Künstler mit Flüchtlingsgemeinschaften zusammenarbeiten, die kaum Zugang zur Gesellschaft haben.

Exhibition, dedicated to the voices of individuals at the Pabradė Reception Center of the Reception and Integration Agency, as well as others worldwide.
You may know the feeling of lying awake the night before something important - even when everything is prepared and date is set, your mind races and won't let you rest.
For many living at the Pabradė Reception Centre, that feeling repeats nightly for weeks or months. Except in their case, there is no set date. Nothing is certain. Nothing is under control.
Two Arts Agency Artscape artists, Nikolaj Urencev and Olesia Lukonina, led creative workshops for asylum seekers at Pabradė Centre.
Some of them are not allowed to leave the grounds. Others can go into Pabradė town – a small but meaningful step closer to freedom. All live in daily anticipation of a decision that will profoundly impact their lives.

The exhibition will be open from May 22th to June 4th.
Working Hours: I-V 10:00-12:00 // 16:00-18:00
Exhibition opening event: May 22th, 4:30 PM (free entrance)

The workshops aimed, if only for two hours weekly, to hold space for each participant to remind themselves that they have a body, a voice, dreams, thoughts, a past, and an unbounded future beyond fences - that their humanity transcends their legal status.
