Open House New York Weekend (OHNY Weekend) is a five-borough festival celebrating design, culture, and civic investment. With more than 250 destinations to explore over three days, the festival helps participants understand why the city looks, feels, and functions the way it does. The Goethe-Institut New York will be open on Saturday October 18 from 10am-6pm and Sunday October 19 from 12pm-4pm for drop in visitations, with additional offerings including a tour of the current exhibition, Likenesses: Speaking with the Selves, with curator Zachary B. Feldman, and an activation of the installation, Convention (2019/2025)*, by artist Li-Ming Hu.

*Convention (2019/2025) restages a comic con-style autograph booth where the artist greets fans and sells signed headshots and photo ops relating to her past role as the Silver Power Ranger on the series Power Rangers RPM. 

Li-Ming Hu

Artist

Li-Ming Hu is a multidisciplinary artist working with installation, video, and performance. Drawing on her experience in the entertainment industry, Hu explores the relationships between cultural production and the construction of subjectivities, engaging with the imperatives of our high-performance culture. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, has attended residencies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the International Studio and Curatorial Program, Flux Factory, the Wassaic Project and Enjoy Contemporary Art Space (NZ). She has exhibited and performed widely throughout New Zealand, Chicago and NYC.

Zachary B. Feldman

Curator

Zachary B. Feldmanis a curator, writer, and scholar of media art and is currently the Curator of Visual Arts and Programs at Goethe-Institut New York. He holds a joint-Ph.D. in Comparative Media and German Studies from Vanderbilt University and was a Helena Rubenstein Fellow in Curatorial Studies at the Whitney Independent Study Program from 2022-23. He has guest curated exhibitions and screenings at e-flux Screening Room (New York), Artists Space (New York), the National Gallery of Art (D.C.), and more.
