Non-Event, das Mayor's Office of Arts + Culture und das Goethe-Institut Boston freuen sich, eine Live-Performance mit elektronischer Musik des in Kenia geborenen und in Berlin lebenden Künstlers Joseph Kamaru (KMRU) in der großen City Hall von Boston zu präsentieren.

KMRU, ist der in Nairobi geborene und in Berlin lebende Klangkünstler Joseph Kamaru. Für ihn ist Klang ein sensorisches Medium, durch das sich soziale, materielle und konzeptionelle Interpretationen in seinen Werken manifestieren. KMRU bringt einen Fundus an Hörerfahrungen aus Nairobi und darüber hinaus mit, die seine Klangpraktiken erweitern und durch kreative Kompositionen, Installationen und Performances ein Bewusstsein für die Umgebung schaffen.

Seine Auftritte im Barbican, bei Berlin Atonal, Présences électronique und seine Veröffentlichungen bei Editions Mego, Subtext und Seil Records haben ihm internationale Anerkennung eingebracht. KMRU ist einer der produktivsten und innovativsten Künstler auf seinem Gebiet und hat sich einen festen Platz in der Liste der wichtigsten Autoren der experimentellen Ambient-Musik erobert

KMRU

KMRU, is Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist Joseph Kamaru. For him, sound is a sensorial medium through which social, material and conceptual interpretations are manifested in his works. KMRU carries with him a repository of listening experiences from Nairobi and beyond expanding his sonic practices, bringing an awareness of surroundings through creative compositions, installations and performances.
He has earned international acclaim from his performances at the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, Présences électronique, and releases on Editions Mego, Subtext, Seil Records. KMRU has carved out a serious and definitive space on the list of essential authors in ambient experimental music – one of the most prolific and innovative artists in his field.
