The TestDaF is a language exam at an advanced level. It covers levels B2 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Exam dates

You can take the TestDaF on six fixed dates every year.
Please note: Registration is only possible directly via the TestDaF website. The number of spaces available is limited.

Exam modules

The TestDaF consists of four exam modules. Your language skills will be assessed separately within the reading, listening, writing and speaking modules.

Results

The three TestDaF levels 3, 4 and 5 correspond with levels B2 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Reaching a particular TestDaF level determines which degree programs you will have access to.

Requirements

The TestDaF is a language exam that determines whether you fulfill the language requirements necessary for admission to study at German universities. The exam is geared towards students and prospective students but is also internationally recognized as evidence of your German language skills for scientific projects and academic careers. Language skills at a minimum level B2 are required.
