Chicago / Houston, May 21, 2025 — The Goethe-Institut USA is pleased to announce the establishment of a new branch in Houston, Texas, set to open in the fall of 2025. This expansion underscores the Goethe-Institut's commitment to fostering German-American cultural exchange in the United States.
The Houston branch will operate as an extension of the Goethe-Institut Chicago, with financial and administrative oversight managed by the Chicago office. Dr. Leonhard Emmerling, Director of the Goethe-Institut Chicago, will also serve as Director of the Houston branch.
“Houston's dynamic cultural landscape and diverse community make it an ideal location for the Goethe-Institut's mission,” said Dr. Emmerling. “We look forward to working with local partners to develop cultural programs and joint initiatives that reflect the shared values of our transatlantic partnership.”
The Goethe-Institut Houston will focus on cultural programming and community engagement through events and partnerships aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue. Further details regarding the exact location and inaugural programming will be announced in the coming months.
