Science Film Festival in the Philippines 7th Edition
A total of 167 246 participated in the Philippines in 2015. The Department of Education (DepEd) took care of the film distribution to the 16 cities in Metro Manila and 18 regions in the country. Public screenings in different public libraries were managed by the National Library of the Philippines. The DOST SEI through their Science Explorer Bus toured several public schools in the provinces during the festival period. Other screenings were also made possible through the support of secondary partners: Mind Museum, Museo Pambata, Manila Ocean Park, National Library, Philippine Science Centrum, Quezon City Science Interactive Center, LIceo de Cagayan, Xavier University, Coalition for Better Education, Ablan Foundation, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, CFC Cornerstone, German European School Manila, the University of the Philippines Astronomical Society and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
This year, the festival officially opens on 8 November 2016 at the SM IMAX Megamall with the film – “A Beautiful Planet”. This is the first time for the Science Film Festival Philippines to open the festival in IMAX 3D. Screenings in all major points in the country happens thereafter with major support from the Department of Science Technology (DOST) and the Department of Education (DepED) as well as from very loyal group of minor stakeholders.
