The Festival

The Science Film Festival Thailand, initiated by the Goethe-Institut in 2005, enjoys a unique position: It focuses on European and Asian films, which communicate technological and scientific issues accessibly and entertainingly to a broad audience. Through this approach, the festival encourages a culture of science films that effectively combines education and entertainment, demonstrating that science communication and learning can be fun.

In addition, the festival offers a platform for intercultural exchange through which different approaches to the world of knowledge converge. In 2008, for example, films from over 20 countries were submitted for consideration. All films are synchronized into Thai, since they are meant to reach out to pupils and students.

The Science Film Festival Thailand, organized by the Goethe-Institut, the French Embassy and the Institut for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology in Thailand is supported by the National Science and Technology Development Agency and BAYER, as well as several other leading companies.
