In October, the Goethe-Institut and rbb will once again join forces to build a radio bridge — this time between Berlin/Brandenburg and the Netherlands.
From October 13 to 16, radio3 and radioeins will broadcast two live programs each day from the Goethe-Institut in Amsterdam, featuring guests from politics and culture, along with interviews, reports, and musical events.
What moves the people of Amsterdam? How do they view Europe and Germany — caught between centuries-old tradition and vibrant urban transformation? What does the country stand for, known as much for its canals, bicycles, and cheese as for its progressive social policies and colonial past? And what is life like today in this international metropolis that attracts millions of visitors from around the world each year?

To explore these questions, radioeins and radio3 will build a radio bridge into the heart of the Netherlands from October 13 to 16. For four days, the two rbb programs will broadcast live from the Goethe-Institut in Amsterdam — featuring exciting guests from politics and culture, interviews, reports, and musical highlights.

Amsterdam in Focus: 750 Years of City History – and the Future

A thematic focus will be on the challenges and opportunities Amsterdam faces in the anniversary year of its founding. How does the city deal with mass tourism flowing through its historic alleys? How is it managing to create affordable housing — and is gentrification an issue here as well? What impact does the liberal drug policy have on urban life? And how is Amsterdam responding to climate change in a densely populated coastal region?

What can Berlin, Brandenburg, and Germany learn from Dutch experiences? These and other questions will be explored by the hosts and reporters of radioeins and radio3 with curiosity and depth.

Music City Amsterdam: Resonant Encounters at the Goethe-Institut

The city’s music scene will also take center stage: radioeins dives into Amsterdam’s diverse pop universe, while radio3 traces musical paths — from classical to jazz.

Each day concludes with an exclusive short concert by Amsterdam-based artists, live from the studio at the Goethe-Institut. Among those performing are the electronic duo Weval, hip-hop icons De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, and jazz legend Ronald Langestraat.
