On 25 November at 5 p.m. (Lisbon time, 6 p.m. CET), the final session of Art meets Tech will take place, in which blockchain and its influence on the art world will be scientifically examined from a sociological perspective.
In this masterclass, cultural scientist Diana Kral will show how materiality, value and intellectual property can be transformed in artistic terms through blockchain.

After an introduction to the world of Web3 using simple examples, participants will learn about blockchain as an artistic medium and tool.

An artistic project on Plantoids and creative tokens will be examined and used to discuss the extent to which the concepts and values of Web3 may have existed before their time but were implemented in other ways. What new opportunities does blockchain offer artists, how can art be democratised, and how can this technology also contribute to gender equality?

This masterclass is aimed at artists, curators, researchers, and anyone interested in art, new technologies, and their impact on social and artistic change. No prior knowledge of blockchain is necessary.
The Art Meets Tech series explores visual arts, music, narrative and craftsmanship, highlighting technologies such as AI, Web3, immersive technologies, digital manufacturing and creative coding. With a focus on online workshops and hybrid formats, the programme offers practical experience, critical discussion and networking within a diverse European community. It invites participants to discover how technology is reshaping art and how art is redefining technology – a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas and skills.
