Walk / Workshop Walk/workshop

Saturday, 2 March 2024, 10:45-15:00

Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi

With Kush Sethi

Registrations open!

This two part walk-shop is aimed at being a gateway into urban ecology through gardening.

Part one is an exploration of the spaces around Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan focussing on the growth in sidewalks, back alleys, inside unoccupied plots, around mature trees and on the vertical surfaces. Participants will study and discuss plant forms and sightings of non-human species and hold them as learnings.

Walking slowly, participants will touch, identify and consciously collect materials of value for growing or to ornament. Examples of materials can include found materials made of clay, metal, plastic, cellulose that can become the growing vessels along with humus as the growing medium and plants in the form of seeds, seedlings and cuttings.

In the second part at the institute, participants will settle down to compose their found objects into miniature landscapes followed by a short show-and-tell session. They will be encouraged to talk about their process and the planted artworks. Participants are invited to take home their creation(s).

PLEASE NOTE:
1. This session is free for all but we only have 15 slots! Registration is mandatory and on first-come, first-served basis.

2. We recommend attending both parts - walk and workshop, so please be mindful and keep time for the entire session (approximately 3.5 hours).
