Ahmed Hafez

A Beirut-based theatre practitioner working across technical direction, lighting design, and performance. His work focuses on how technical elements, particularly light, shape space, presence, and perception on stage. He has experience in theatre production, multimedia performance, and technical training, and currently teaches at the Lebanese University. He has worked on theatre and performance projects in both local and international contexts. His practice is grounded in working under real conditions, where limited resources and changing contexts become part of the creative process.

Ali Chahrour

A Lebanese choreographer and dancer whose work explores the body, ritual, and social realities in the Arab world. Trained in Beirut and Europe, he developed a distinctive style rooted in Arab myths, oral histories, and regional contexts. In 2013, he began a trilogy on death rituals – Fatmeh, Leila’s Death, and May He Rise and Smell the Fragrance – presented internationally. In 2019, Ali launched a new trilogy, Love, examining intimacy through political and social lenses. His works have toured globally and appeared at major festivals. In 2025, he completed a master’s degree in Beirut focusing on movement within death rituals.

Camille Brunel

Actress and stage director with over twenty years of experience in France and Lebanon, she co-founded Collectif Kahraba in Beirut, working at the intersection of theatre, puppetry, and dance. She directs documentaries and artistic films and writes shows for and with young audiences. She directed the Institut Français du Liban in the Bekaa, led Publications at ALBA, and taught theatre across both countries. Camille designs cultural and socio-educational projects, builds and supports teams, and works in complex territories. Since 2025, she has been leading training programs exploring the intersection of arts and Gestalt therapy – a research practice she is developing alongside her certification at the Paris School of Gestalt.

HERE & ELSEWHERE (هُنا وهُنالِك) - Habib Habib

Founded in 2025, is an independent, community-driven film festival dedicated to SWANA films and representation. It emerged to challenge the structural barriers that limit SWANA filmmakers, from access to funding to the pressure to fit limiting narratives just to be considered.
Our team includes Beirut-based filmmaker Habib Habib, whose work has focused on amplifying under-supported stories; Barcelona-based producer Lilith Blazek, shaped by Beirut and committed to confronting SWANA underrepresentation in cinema; and Palestinian filmmaker Fateema Al-Hamaydeh, working across diaspora contexts and dedicated to reflecting the diversity of our community on screen.

Reine Mitri

Born in Lebanon where she lives and works, Reine Mitri is a filmmaker and producer. Her work focuses on questions of personal and collective memory. Grounded in historical research, with the use of archive photos and films, as well as in the documentation of contemporary life and individual experiences, her films form a coherent body of work that portrays a particular vision of Lebanon and its contemporary history. Reine has also made films dedicated to Palestinian history and memory. Rima Maroun

A Beirut-based Lebanese photographer and performer. She co-founded Collectif Kahraba and served as its president until 2024. Her work has been exhibited widely in Lebanon and internationally, including at Photoquai Biennale (Paris), Art Dubai, PhotoEspaña (Madrid), and Cadaqués Photo Festival. In 2008, she received the Anna Lindh Foundation Award, and in 2022, second place at the Cortona On The Move Award. Rima co-founded Hammana Artist House and initiated Collective 1200. Maroun’s practice focuses on artistic exchange, community building, and dialogue, and she is currently co-founding Tahreek, a cultural organization in development.

MAJAL – Yasmine Dabbous

MAJAL is a specialty design school offering three certificates in jewelry design, textile design and business growth. Established in Beirut in 2018, MAJAL is a mission-driven school: It empowers people through real-world readiness, skill-first education and market connections. The textile program is the first of its kind in Lebanon and, through it, MAJAL hopes to revive Lebanon’s rich textile legacy.

REEF Association

REEF (Rurality in Arabic) evolved in 2018 out of an open-air screening in Kobayat-Akkar that combined cinema and ecology. This local experiment grew into an association, organizing the annual REEF Encounters and activities across Lebanon that expand the dialogue between art, rural and urban communities. Beyond cinema, REEF brings together music, performance, theater, and applied arts, always rooted in the places and people that host them. Its Encounters' 8th edition is set late September 2026 with a curated program of ecological cinema, film awards, live Akkari music, and artistic workshops by women practitioners.

Almonther Al Damani

A Syrian theater maker (playwright, dramaturg, director), a graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in the Department of Theater Studies, and currently a master's student in theater and film studies at Saint Joseph University in Beirut. His work primarily explores the relationship between death and freedom and their manifestations in human behavior, especially after the 2011 explosion. Through his research, he has produced several theatrical performances as a dramaturg and director, discussing this duality, the latest was play "yearning - Beirut 2023." He also worked as a dramaturg in a dance performance titled "There - Beirut 2023." Additionally, he has engaged in journalism and art criticism, contributing to various newspapers, magazines, and websites.

Sarah Francis

A Lebanese filmmaker and visual artist whose work moves between documentary, fiction, and essay forms. Her films explore memory, perception, and the relationship between inner states and physical landscapes. Her feature Birds of September premiered at CPH:DOX screened internationally, and received several awards, while As Above, So Below premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her latest film, Dead Dog, premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam and won Best Arab Film at Cairo International Film Festival, and is currently touring worldwide.
