Roma in Tuzla talk about everyday challenges, the struggle to preserve their language, culture, and traditions, as well as efforts to secure a better future for their children.
“Roma are slowly forgetting the language, and they wish that wasn't the case. The signs of tradition are gradually disappearing, even though they try to stop it. It’s hard for Roma to find jobs, sometimes, as they say, because of the color of their skin. Education is now their main priority…” — this message runs through the stories of the film’s main protagonists.
In the documentary “The Fate of Minorities,” a police officer, a craftsman, a lawyer, scrap collectors, schoolchildren, a student, and a politician talk about life in Tuzla, presenting a mosaic of real-life stories and experiences from the Roma community.
The series “Life of Minorities” uses documentary storytelling to depict the position, identity, and challenges faced by members of national minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, promoting understanding, tolerance, and social inclusion.
The premiere of the documentary “The Fate of Minorities,” edited and written by Jesenko Krehić, was broadcast on BHT1 on Saturday, November 1, at 6 PM.
