Stories from the Frontlines of Journalism

By NDNV

The project “Journalists under Pressure: Local Voices against Violence and Repression” documents and publicly presents authentic testimonies of journalists from Serbia who face threats, intimidation, and violence in the current political and social context. Independent local reporters, particularly in multiethnic communities, are among the first exposed to systemic pressure, yet they remain vital defenders of democracy and the public interest. Building on NDNV’s experience in protecting journalists, the project adds a human dimension through personal stories that make these issues visible and relatable.

These stories will be transformed into a 30–40-minute documentary film and 5–6 short social media videos. Public screenings and debates in Subotica, Novi Pazar, and Belgrade will create safe spaces for dialogue between journalists, citizens, and international stakeholders, emphasizing that violence against journalists is a systemic issue requiring solidarity and joint action.

The film will be screened at Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), chosen for its editorial independence and credibility. This regional partnership ensures broader visibility and reinforces the message of cross-border solidarity, while maintaining integrity.

The film's trailer shows a short excerpt of the confessions of journalists in local communities who have experienced threats and pressure in their professional work over the past year.
