Have you just moved into your first flat or WG? In this free 90-minute interactive information event, you will receive important practical tips on all aspects of housing.

These are the topics:
  • Understanding the Rental Contract: What’s in a rental contract? What do terms like deposit, rent, and cancellation mean? We’ll explain the important details so you can better understand your contract.
  • Signing Up for Electricity and Gas: How do you sign up with an electricity or gas provider? What should you look for? We’ll give tips on choosing the right provider.
  • Annual Utility Bill: In Germany, you’ll receive an annual bill for electricity and gas, which can often be complicated. We’ll show you how to better understand your costs and bills.
  • Waste Separation: In Germany, waste is separated, meaning that each type of trash (e.g., glass, plastic, paper) goes into a specific bin. We’ll explain how this system works and where each item should go.
  • Heating and Ventilation: In Germany, it’s important to heat and ventilate properly to prevent mold in your home. This can also help you save money. We’ll show you the best ways to do this.
     


Who is the course aimed at? 

The project is co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and is aimed at third-country nationals in Germany and those about to immigrate to Germany. Students are not part of the target group.
 
You can register if you are a third-country national and if you have one of these residence titles:
 
  • Residence permit to carry out vocational training, search for a training place, recognition of foreign professional qualifications, work, job search, spouse or family reunification
  • Visa or visa application for the above-mentioned residence purposes 
  • EU Blue Card
  • Residence permit according to § 24 Abs. 1 AufenthG
