Singing Workshops for Years 5 & 6

Testimonial January 2022:
"It was a great pleasure to host the 'Yeah Yeah Yeah Workshop' organised by the Goethe-Institut. My Year 5 and 6 pupils loved the time spent learning to sing Sie Liebt Dich. Highly entertaining, fun and engaging in so many different levels: a mix of language, culture and music. Goethe Insitut was great at accommodating our possible dates and times. The children asked if we can do it again. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended." Valley Primary School, Bromley

Would you like to inspire your pupils to learn a modern language? Does your school love music?

The Goethe-Institut London is offering workshops for primary schools designed to introduce your pupils in Years 5 and 6 to the wonderful world of German music through the medium of song!
Led by the charismatic young choral director Ben Vonberg-Clark, your pupils will gain a basic understanding of German pronunciation and be able to sing a Beatles classic in German by the end of the session. Pupils will leave the session feeling motivated, and with increased cultural, musical and linguistic awareness.

With the decline in the uptake of both music and languages, the Goethe-Institut London is keen to inspire a new generation of musical linguists with this workshop opportunity. One aim of this project is to boost the uptake of German at secondary level.

The school does not need to have pre-existing music or language provision, though schools with either language and / or music provision are equally open to the scheme.

You will need:

  • A rehearsal space or hall
  • A piano or keyboard.
  • Two hours for the workshop (including a 15 minute break in the middle), and a keen group of year 5 and 6 students.

We provide:

  • An inspirational and motivational two-hour workshop, led by Ben Vonberg-Clark
  • A professional pianist to accompany the session
  • Further opportunities to collaborate and build a connection with the Goethe-Institut London.
Workshops are offered on-site in schools.
