Interested in one of our language courses or need further information? Feel free to contact our language course office for some personal advice.

We help you book a course in Glasgow or at one of the Goethe-Institutes in Germany or sign up for one of our examinations.

We offer courses
  • from October to February (autumn/winter semester) 
  • from February to June (spring/summer semester)
  • in the summer months of June, July and September
Direct Enrolment
Complete beginners and students with the Goethe-Institut can enrol directly. You can register on our website, by phone or by returning the completed enrolment form to our Language Course Office. Please note that complete beginners do not need to be assessed. 

New students with some previous knowledge
If you are new to the Goethe-Institut and already have some German, we offer a free assessment. The assessment will take online until further notice. For a link to the test please get in touch with the Language Department. Once we receive the test results back a teacher will contact you for an oral assessment and to discuss suitable classes.

Please enrol in time to avoid disappointment as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Places are booked firmly only after receipt of the full payment.

General Conditions

Our courses are designed for adult learners (18+) unless otherwise stated. Younger learners may be admitted after prior consultation. Our courses have a maximum of 18 students

Terms of Payment

Fees are payable in full on enrolment. We accept cash, cheques, credit and debit cards. Unless stated otherwise books must be purchased separately. The contractually binding fee is the fee stated in the price list current at the time of application.


Concession fees apply to full-time students, senior citizens (60+), registered unemployed and teachers of German for general language courses (proof required). Concessions can only be given at the time of booking and cannot be applied in retrospect.
Discounts cannot be combined and only one form of discount will be given at any one time.

Cancellation and Refunds

In case of cancellations following fees apply:
a) Up to 4 weeks before beginning of course 10% of course fee,
b) Up to 1 week before beginning of course 20% of course fee,
c) Up to 1 day before beginning of course 30% of course fee,
d) After course begins 100% of course fee.

Students should consider their personal commitments and circumstances before enrolment, as we regret that no fees are refundable once the course has started.
We reserve the right to cancel classes with fewer than 10 students up to 24 hours before a course is due to start. In this case a full refund of the course fee paid will be given. No other costs except the course fee will be refunded.

Change of course

If a situation arises where you need to switch to a course other than the one you have already registered for, you must notify the Goethe-Institut either before the course start date or within the first three weeks of the duration of your extensive course. Whether or not the requested change can be facilitated is at the discretion of the Goethe-Institut, depending on factors such as available spaces on the course the student wishes to switch to.

The Goethe-Institut takes the protection of your data very seriously. With this privacy policy we want to transparently inform you about which personal data ("your data") we collect, process and use if you visit our website and/or use the Goethe-Institut website.

Conditions for tailor-made courses

Please note that special conditions apply for one-to-one tuition and small groups.
Liability of the Goethe-Institut

...and their staff are limited to intent and gross negligence. The Goethe-Institut accepts no liability for the cancellation of its services due to force majeure (e.g. natural disaster, fire, floods, war, official orders and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contractual parties).
