Open Haus

Goethe-Institut Glasgow Open Haus © Goethe Institut Glasgow

The Goethe-Institut Glasgow is offering free space for cultural practitioners and community groups in our Park Circus building. We hope to welcome as many artists, makers and groups as possible, however, space is limited and available on an application basis. If you are seeking a room for rehearsing, working, writing, imagining, reading,  thinking, planning or meeting please reach out to us.

The process is simple. Complete the short online form with your request and we will allocate a space to you where there is availability. We aim to respond to applications within a week, but sometimes need more time depending on other activity within our programme and building.

Available Spaces

The Hall is often used for film screenings, discursive events and receptions. The room is 14m x 5m and has solid wood flooring.
Our seminar room on the ground floor is 5m x 6m and offers space and technical equipment for meetings, seminars and group activities. Other meeting spaces on the first floor might be available upon request.
Separate from the main building, the Outhouse sits in the back garden, away from traffic and passersby. The Outhouse is a low, single-storey structure with an interior divided into two connected spaces. The first space has three casement windows, two next to the outer door, and one at one end of the building. There are bars over the windows and two of the windows can be opened. The wall facing the outer door has no openings and is finished in white subway tiles that bear traces of earlier structures. The ceiling has been opened to the wooden rafters in both spaces. There are three steps up to the second space, which is smaller and suitable for projections/film screenings and VR galleries – the single window is fitted with a blackout covering which darkens the room considerably though not totally. The walls and floor are unfinished concrete. Both rooms have overhead lighting and infrared heaters.
