"Desintegriert euch!" by MAX CZOLLEK

For our 13th international online book club meeting on December 14, we've invited author Max Czollek to read his book Desintegriert euch!

THE BOOK:

Max Czollek's startling and thought-provoking book - a wild testimony from the Jewish scene - changes the debate about integration and belonging.
Max Czollek is thirty, Jewish and angry. Why? Because strange rules prevail in his home country of Germany: a good migrant is one  who speaks in an enlightened way about women's oppression, Islamism and democracy; a good Jew is one who always speaks out about anti-Semitism, the Holocaust and Israel. This 'performance' of an integrated society establishes the image of a purified society, despite the contemporaneous rise of a 'people's' populist party. Max Czollek's polemic outlines a strategy to end this 'performed integrated society': disintegration. Desintegriert euch! (Disintegrate yourselves!) is a rallying cry from the new Jewish scene and at the same time an attack against the vision of a one-size-fits-all 'Leitkultur' (dominant culture). This furiously controversial book is the polemic of the hour.
