This year’s Essay Film Festival will present several works by the Indian filmmaker, novelist, reporter, columnist, photographer, and essayist Ruchir Joshi, including some films recently restored by the Arsenal Institute for Film and Video Art (Berlin). Ruchir Joshi will be present for the events.

Following the screenings on Saturday, 28 March, and Sunday, 29 March at the ICA, this symposium at the Birkbeck Cinema on Monday, 30 March, which we are pleased to support, will explore Joshi’s work and the many forms and paths it has taken over the last four decades.. A number of distinguished guests, as well as Ruchir Joshi himself, will examine his multidisciplinary work across different media and means of expression, and above all in the context of Indian culture and society, seen in a global perspective.
