Strengthening Regional Public Broadcasting Through Job Shadowing

Learning, Cooperation, and Co Production in Public Service Media in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro

I have just returned from Zagreb, where I spent 8 days at the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT). I met kind and selfless colleagues and attended their editorial meetings/sessions. They showed me their editing facilities, studio, and the way they organize their programming. With their production support, I recorded several interviews, and we will also produce a joint program on the topic of Croats in Montenegro and Montenegrins in Croatia. This is only the beginning of our future cooperation.

At BHRT, my hosts were representatives of International Affairs. They connected me with colleagues from the International Exchange Editorial Office, the Religious and Documentary Programme, as well as the Morning and News Programme.

Regardless of my many years of journalistic experience, the visit to BHRT was a challenge for me, with a multitude of new information about the way of working, programme content and genres of programmes that were interesting to me.

What impressed me in that institution was that, despite rather poor conditions, the colleagues function well, produce different programmes, and still find time to host colleagues from other public service broadcasters.
