Exhibition
The German School

5-10 pm
The Return Gallery and Auditorium
Archive Städelschule (C) Archive Städelschule, Photo: Walter Krankel From September 2021 through spring 2022, the Goethe-Institut Irland's Return Gallery will host “The German School”, an exhibition programme of artworks from the film class of the Städelschule, the internationally known art school in Frankfurt am Main.
Initiated by Irish artist and Städelschule Professor, Gerard Byrne, the programme presents diverse new work from 24 students who originate from across five continents. Even in the wake of the past 18 months of isolationism, “The German School” programme reflects an appetite amongst younger artists to connect internationally, affirming a constellation of localities connecting via Dublin, Frankfurt am Main, and elsewhere.
The first of the series of exhibitions will be on view at the Goethe-Institut on Culture Night.

Who's in Your Book? Diversity in Children’s Stories

5-6 pm
Library
Logo DRIN (C) EL BOUM You can all look forward to getting to know books like "Julian is a Mermaid" or "Samus ganzer Stolz".
Children’s books shape the world view we grow up with. It is important for children to be able to recognize themselves in stories, illustrations and narratives and, at the same time, to learn about the different realities of life around them. Storyteller Simone Schümmelfeder introduces new children’s books written in German and books from Ireland and discusses them with children. The young audience is invited to share their ideas of diversity in books.
For children aged 5+

Please note that we can allow only one parent to accompany their child due to social distance regulations.

All you require is a smartphone or a tablet and you can experience the story of five friends who live in Munich and share a passion for skateboarding!
The students’ development in the game as well as their progress in language learning can be monitored separately by the teacher, who has access to open the game session in the lesson. This app is targeted at secondary school pupils aged 13 to 16, so they can learn the German language in a less formal format.
