His artworks raise questions about the depth of his relationships with the people he encountered during his residency. How can one represent someone they have just met, especially through photography? How can someone overcome their insecurities and inner turmoil when reaching out to connect with others? And if they receive permission to photograph someone, how can they ensure that the resulting image avoids objectification and respects the dignity of the subject?

Using the analogue slitscan process—a technique that stretches and abstracts time within a single frame—Felix Baßler investigates these questions by blurring the lines between abstraction and representation. While maintaining the documentary yet abstract aesthetic inherent to this technique, Felix Baßler strikes a balance between preserving the anonymity of the photographed individuals and capturing their intricate details in a playful manner, aiming to avoid objectification—a mistake all too common in street photography.
