"The best in their trade: German Nobel Prize Winners in Literature"

The Nobel Prize in Literature is one of the five prizes awarded annually to an author from any country who has, in the words of Alfred Nobel, produced "in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction". This lecture gives an overview of the German-speaking Nobel Prize winners from 1901 till 2009.
