My name is not Ali by Viola Shafik

In the series German Cinema @ Suchitra, we present the documentary My Name is not Ali, directed by Viola Shafik. 

This documentary is on El Hedi Ben Salem who played the protagonist in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's acclaimed film Angst essen Seele auf and was also Fassbinder's partner at that time.

Travelling between Germany, France and Morocco, director Viola Shafik reconstructs and deconstructs the unknown life story of El Hedi Ben Salem through interviews with his companions and family members as well as archive material.
