We are delighted to present, along with long-standing partner and bangaloREsidency host Indian Sonic Research Organisation (ISRO): Zoophony VR – a spatial audio and virtual reality work, developed as a collaboration between Berlin-based composer, Sergey Khismatov and Bangalore-based visual artist, Chaitanya Krishnan.
This collaboration forms part of SOUNDCHAINS - Virtual Artistic Exchange 2021 hosted at the ISRO and supported by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore. The work was also supported by (Art)ScienceBLR and the STORYLAB at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore.
Zoophony VR is the result of Khismatov’s obsessive, decade-long project of collecting animal sounds towards composing a symphony. Chaitanya’s work with Sergey has involved interpreting the Zoophony score towards transforming it into a claustrophobic, ghostly and sometimes magical atmosphere.
