Being sustainable means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just an environmental term. In most definitions of sustainability we also find concern for social equality and economic development.

This is where the three pillars of sustainability come into play: environmental, social and economic sustainability.

This time, T[h]inkering Thursday is about economic sustainability. Our host Gaurav Juyal from Thoughts and Bolts talks to Linda Preil, founder of the economically sustainable company einhorn in Berlin.

The world's resources are becoming increasingly scarce as we, human civilisation, live on this planet and constantly consume natural resources. Therefore, it is important that we shift our economic focus to economic sustainability, an economy that refers to practices that promote long-term economic growth without negatively impacting social, environmental and cultural aspects of the community.

With this in mind, this episode is about how einhorn has managed to become a sustainable company and how we as consumers can also contribute to an economically sustainable society.

More about "einhorn"

Founded in 2015, einhorn produces vegan condoms and fair organic menstrual products. Design, sustainability and fairness play a major role in fulfilling einhorn's mission. The goal is to create an economically successful, sustainable and environmentally friendly company. That is why einhorn reinvests 50% of its profits in sustainable projects.

It is part of a whole movement for sustainable lifestyle with a sense of justice, open communication at eye level and a lot of fun with design and aesthetics. The company is actively committed to economic change, transparency and social justice.

This programme will be live-streamed on the Goethe-Institut Facebook page at 6:00 pm.
