Tell a Tale: Writing workshop with Anushree Majumdar
Workshop|
-
Library MMB, Mumbai
Participant criteria: The workshop is open to people between the ages of 18-28, who can speak English and Hindi, can read and write in both languages with a keen interest in creative writing.
Last year, over the span of a few months, a group of storytellers, novelists, festival curators, and journalists from India and Europe came together for Once Upon a Tomorrow, a collaborative initiative by the Goethe-Institut South Asia to explore the ways in which narrative practices could be turned around. Through a series of deep dives and workshops, the group examined how stories work, the social as well as psychological pathways they navigate, and tried to steer them towards a more hopeful future.
That future cannot come by without collective action; and so, with the help of tools developed during the course of Once Upon a Tomorrow, we invite you to engage in a series of exercises that seek to change the way we think about stories, and the act of storytelling, in an increasingly divided world.
The workshop will include thinking collaboratively, as well as writing based on group work and feedback. Presenting our findings in a way that can easily be understood, translated and communicated within and beyond the Goethe-Institut is the goal of this workshop.
Anushree Majumdar is an independent writer and editor based in Mumbai. A former journalist, she has worked with The Indian Express and The Economic Times.
