“Malaise of Mankind” is a documentary about trafficking of women and girls and aims at awareness building and motivating a change for safeguarding the human rights of this particularly vulnerable group. The film was realized by Abhijit Dasgupta of Kolkata Sukriti Foundation and funded by the German Consulate General in Kolkata. It targets the potential victims and specifically public and private decision-makers, NGOs, social leaders, teachers and principals and all socially conscious citizens who can make a difference.

Abhijit Dasgupta
of Kolkata Sukriti Foundation is the director of this documentary film ‘Malaise of Mankind’. Abhijit Dasgupta, Head of Production of ESPN, former Station Director of Doordarshan Kendra Kolkata, and former Dean of SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute) Kolkata, is an alumnus of FTII, Pune. He was also trained at the BBC London, NDR Germany, AIBD Malaysia, ABC Australia and NBC USA. He has received two national and twenty-eight international awards for best documentaries.


The film-maker will be available for a question-and-answer session after the screening.

The programme is presented by the German Consulate General Kolkata to commemorate World Day Against Trafficking in July 2023.
