Film lovers of Pune are going to get a rare chance to watch critically acclaimed short films from Germany, France, Switzerland, and India.  The ‘International Shorts Collective’ is back with its fifth edition in Pune on the 11th and 12th of August 2023 at “The Base” in Erandawane, Pune.

Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Pune, Alliance Française de Pune, Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai, Pune Film Foundation and the Arbhaat Film Club are to present globally awarded short films to the Pune audiences. The festival outreach is supported by the Rainbow Umbrella Foundation.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, 11th August and Saturday, 12th of August 2023 at “The Base”, Pune between 5 & 9 pm (IST) on both the days.

The German contribution to the festival is a series of films selected from the Short Export 2023 package. Short Export 2023 is a powerful exploration of what it means to be searching for something: searching for the right words, searching for direction, searching for beginnings, searching for what is left of us. The program takes us on a journey that includes stopping points such as the Platz der Kulturen in Cologne and the Polish-Belorussian border, the oceans of our planet and outer space. This edition of Short Export is contemplative and light-hearted, frustrating and surprising.

The meticulously curated French, Swiss and Indian collections explore a range of thought-provoking themes and offer intimate glimpses into the human experience with a flair for artistic storytelling. Through compelling narratives and evocative imagery, these films provoke emotion and introspection, leaving lasting impressions that capture the essence of the human condition in all its vulnerability and beauty. Selected from entries to the Locarno Film Festival, the National Film Awards of India and other prominent film festivals around the world, the short films in this curated section explore the subtleties of human resonance and indifference in an ever-changing world.

The Franco-German collaboration with the support of important art-promoting organizations like the Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai, Pune Film Foundation Arbhaat Film Club and Rainbow Umbrella Foundation will thus try achieving the common goal of presenting an event without borders to the enthusiastic, open-minded Pune audiences.
