Director- Mario Sixtus
2021, Colour, 109 minutes

Mario Sixtus tells of a future in which social media has completely taken over. The actions of every individual are seen by the public and fed into a rating system, and those who win the favour of the masses are rewarded with privileges. Sixtus, however, shares the other, more-fascinating side with us: those who crash and burn within this system, the failures living outside the social masses. At the same time, in Hyperland he confronts topics that go hand in hand with the digitalised world: fake news, fake facts, hate campaigns on the internet. Here, everything is set in motion by a rape for which the perpetrator shifts the blame onto the victim. The science fiction then turns into a thriller, because Cee, the main character, is willing to defend herself with criminal energy if necessary.

Mario Sixtus, born on March 6, 1965 in Ratingen, is a German publicist, screenwriter, filmmaker and journalist. Sixtus is co-founder of the European Web Video Academy and was jury chairman of the German Web Video Award in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, he was one of the founding members of the SPD-affiliated net policy association D64 - Center for Digital Progress, but left after a few months. Sixtus is a member of the Berlin-based association Cyborgs e.V. - Gesellschaft zur Förderung und kritischen Begleitung der Verschmelzung von Mensch und Technik (Society for the Promotion and Critical Monitoring of the Fusion of Humans and Technology), as well as the journalists' association Freischreiber. His work focuses on current developments in the Internet, cyberculture and cyberpolitics.
