Die Stille nach dem Schuss
Friday Film|Monthly Film Screening
-
Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, Kolkata
Director: Volker Schlöndorff
2011, Colour, 94 minutes
Seduced by her sense of justice and her love for Andi, Rita Vogt becomes a member of a terrorist organisation in West Berlin in the 1970s. After shooting a policeman, she goes into hiding in the GDR, with state security giving her a new existence. Two worlds collide: western left-wing radical terrorism and eastern "real socialism". After 1989, both were history.
Volker Schlöndorff studied economy and political sciences as well as at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinematographique (IDHEC) in Paris, France. He worked as an assistant director with Louis Malle, Jean-Pierre Melville and Alain Resnais and later founded his own production company Bioskop Film together with Reinhard Hauff and Eberhard Junkersdorf in 1973. Volker has directed several operas in Frankfurt a/M, Berlin (Germany) and Paris, France. Since 1992, he is the chief executive of the German production company Sudio Babelsberg GmbH (former UFA/DEFA).
For age group 18 years and above.
