Science Film Festival in Sudan 4th Edition

For the third year in a row, the Goethe-Institut organized the Science Film Festival in Sudan from a very basic event in a couple of classrooms to a large ceremony including many schools and cultural centers. The target groups were mainly school children and university students.

Activities were organized for children to learn about the theme of “Material Science” through films and fun experiments in order to facilitate understanding of how materials are put together. The festival team demonstrated different experiments to show the production of gases, different kinds of papers, a lava lamp and many more. Children were so excited and their response to all activities was spectacular. What made the festival so special in Sudan last year was that access to remote schools were made possible, where pupils enjoyed cinema shows for the first time in their life. The event was able to reach out to more than 4 000 students, compared to around 3 000 students the previous year.

The Goethe-Institu Sudan thanks its partner Al Faisal Cultural Center for being part of this project for the second time and their valuable contribution to the high standard of delivery. The cooperation will continue with the Al Faisal Cultural Centre for the next edition of the festival and the hope is to invite further partners.
