In Thailand, the Science Film Festival is organised by the Goethe-Institut Thailand, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science & Technology and the National Science Museum Thailand for the 13th time from November 1 to December 18. The event reached over 550 000 visitors in 2016, upholding its status as the world’s larget scientific film festival in terms of audience reach.

A selection of 22 films are screened at nanmeebooks Learning Center, NSTDA Thailand Science Park, the Thai Film Archive, the National Science Museum Thailand, NSM Science Square, City Learning Park Nakhorn Sri Thammarat, and through the IPST Traveling Festival at 19 Science Centers for Education throughout the country during the festival period.

The Science Film Festival has also continued to facilitate the development of science education and communication infrastructures in Thailand with associated programmes such the Young Thai Science Ambassador science communication competition and cooperations with the Max-Planck Society and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting to strengthen and encourage science media in the country.
