ReWeave
Slow Fashion for Shared Futures
Creating a space that offers the opportunity to share and acquire knowledge is particularly important in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where there is an increasing reliance on the fast fashion industry, leading to excessive textile waste and a decline in once-traditional textile skills.
“ReWeave” is a project of the EUNIC Cluster Bosnia and Herzegovina organized by the Goethe-Institut, the Austrian Cultural Form and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in cooperation with local partners like the No Nation Fashion and Sugar on Top.
About the exhibition:
In their photographic works, presented in the “Fashion” category of the Sarajevo Photography Festival 2023–2024 competition, Madeleine Brunnmeier (DE), Sevil Cetin (TR), Hana Kazić (BiH), Nenad Martić (HR), and Renata Brzić (SR) present fashion not only as an aesthetic art form but as a cultural practice of sharing, repairing, and passing on. Their photographic approaches draw attention to materiality, the body, and context, thereby entering into a dialogue with collective forms of production.
Participatory formats:
In artist Danijela Dugandžić’s “Opleti” installation, participants can take a piece of fabric, wool, or thread, create their own pattern, and weave it into the installation. A knot, a woven strip, or a bead—every gesture leaves a mark. The result is a collective work of art that remains on display for the entire duration of the photo exhibition.
The Crafts(wo)manship Workshop is open to anyone who wants to practice, teach, and learn textile crafts such as embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and sewing together with others.
From March 2026 until the final “Slow Fashion Exhibition” in November 2026, participants can work with instructors and designers to create pieces that will ultimately be presented and exhibited. The finale will not only serve as an exhibition but also features a humanitarian bazar and a Repair Station, where visitors can have clothes repaired or mended.
Masterclass Program 12-14 June 2026:
The Masterclass program, taking place June 12th-14th in Sarajevo, drives things forward. In this intensive 2,5-day program, participants will gain theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in circular design, ethical production, repair, upcycling, and eco-entrepreneurship. By the end of the Masterclass, participants will be able to identify environmental and social impacts of fast fashion on BiH, apply at least three repair or upcycling techniques and develop a basic action plan for a slow fashion initiative in their community. The workshop is open to all students, especially VET school and university students that are interested or are specialising in fashion, design and textile. It is also open to teachers and educators, emerging local designers, and anyone interested in furthering their education in the aforementioned fields.
The workshop is held in English.
