The next session of 'Art Meets Tech' will take place on 23 September at 7 p.m. (Tallinn time), focusing on the symbiosis of code and algorithms in music composition.

No registration required.

In this session, Alexandra Cárdenas will present her live coding practice, in which music is written and transformed in real time using code. She will demonstrate how programming languages such as TidalCycles and SuperCollider can be used as musical instruments to create complex rhythms, evolving textures and improvised structures. The session will include excerpts from previous performances, a live demonstration of algorithmic sound generation and an insight into how code can become a creative and expressive tool. If the group is open to it, Alexandra will also lead a short practical exercise using a browser-based platform for generative pattern creation.

This session is aimed at programmers and musicians and anyone who is curious about the possibilities of algorithmic music and the role of code in contemporary sound art.

Alexandra Cárdenas is a composer, live coder and sound artist from Bogotá, Colombia, who lives in Berlin. Her work explores the intersection between code and music, using languages such as SuperCollider and TidalCycles to create performances in which algorithms become instruments. She is an active member of the international live coding and algorave communities and has performed and led workshops throughout Europe, Latin America and beyond. With her background in classical composition, mathematics and sound studies, she brings a unique approach to technology as a creative and performative tool. Alexandra is currently developing her own AI-powered live coding environment and is part of several collaborative projects focusing on open-source tools, feminist infrastructures, and algorithmic sound. Her practice is based on experimentation, accessibility, and the belief that code can be a powerful medium for expression and connection.
The series Art Meets Tech explores visual arts, music, narratives, and crafts and highlights technologies such as AI, Web3, immersive technologies, and digital manufacturing, and creative coding. With predominantly online workshops and hybrid formats, the programme offers practical experience, critical discussions and networking within a diverse European community. It invites you to discover how technology is reshaping art and how art is redefining technology - a dynamicplatform to exchangeideas and skills.
