Artist Asad Raza and CCA Glasgow Seek Cultivators
CCA Glasgow and artist Asad Raza are searching for participants for the 2022 exhibition, running from 29 July - 10 September, with rehearsals from 26 - 29 July. Raza's project, titled
Absorption, will assemble a group of cultivators to engage in several tasks inside CCA gallery spaces in Glasgow.
Absorption takes as its focus the ground beneath us, the network of interacting living organisms that serves as the natural floor for human life.
Cultivators will both interact directly with visitors and take care of the installation. CCA is looking for curious, communicative, mindful, and enthusiastic individuals residing in Glasgow or within commuting distance who will work in close co-operation with the artist. Cultivators will be adding and mixing materials, turning over, raking and watering the soil, measuring pH, water content and other qualities, and interacting with visitors and offering them soil.
Participants will be paid and participation is flexible, with a minimum of 8 hours per week over the run of the project being preferable.
One-hour group interviews are scheduled for Monday 4 July at 10am. These will be held on Zoom.
Participants are not required to have any previous experience in the arts, or as performers. Individuals 18 years or older with a broad range of backgrounds are encouraged to apply. You must be legally eligible to work in the UK.

Asad Raza creates dialogues and rejects disciplinary boundaries in his work, which conceives of art as a metabolic, active experience. Using actions and processes such as soil-making, tennis, and horticulture, his projects create encounters within and beyond the exhibition setting.
