Join us for the next session of our book club to discuss (in German) the novel
'Die Diplomatin' by Lucy Fricke. New members welcome!
About the book
Fred is an experienced and ambitious German consul. A woman who can't be fazed by anything, at home everywhere and nowhere. But then, in Montevideo, she fails for the first time in her career. She is transferred to politically heated Istanbul, her greatest challenge to date. Between the Palace of Justice and summer residence, secret service and German-Turkish cooperation, between affair and loneliness, she comes up against the limits of friendship, the rule of law and the European idea.
In her brilliant new novel, as funny as it is bitter, Lucy Fricke tells the story of a diplomat who loses faith in diplomacy - and the most important thing in her profession: patience.
