'Auentod' by Maxim Leo

We already grew fond of Kommissar Voss in 2016 when we discussed the book “Waidmannstod” - now we will read the second part of the series!

This time Voss investigates in the historic region between Poland and Germany – following the footsteps of the woman he believes he loves. Together with Maja, his mother’s nurse, he is enjoying his holiday in Poland. Whilst Voss still needs to get used to probably being in an actual relationship, Maja suddenly disappears.

Shortly after that, a software developer falls from the scaffolding of his villa in Bad Freienwalde in Brandenburg and dies. What first appears to be an accident turns out to be a case which challenges everything, even love.

A fast-paced crime thriller about the history of the enchanted landscape of the Oderbruchs - where a dubious cowboy appears, who turns out to be a real friend - and the ultimate question of why we always start to understand the important things in life when it seems to be almost too late?
