Due to Europe-wide memorial service at the end of the First World War, the Goethe-Institut Glasgow and the Alliance Française Glasgow are planning a conference in collaboration with British partners, such as the Kelvingrove Museum Glasgow. The conference is focusing on the role of culture in peace education and reconciliation in post-conflict-situations.

Because culture is an expression of identity, it plays a key role in the peace-building process in post-conflict areas, as it promotes dialogue, recounts memories, and encourages mutual understanding. The conference will bring together experts from Germany, France and the United Kingdom and will be held alongside the "Brushes With War" exhibition at the Kelvingrove Museum.

Moreover, free film screenings of relevant German, French and British films will be shown, such as François Ozon's Franco-German film production "Frantz", Emmanuel Courcol's French film "Cessez-le-feu" or the British film "Testament of Youth" by James Kent. These film screenings will be held at the CCA (Center of Contemporary Arts), a cultural institution of the city of Glasgow. As a symbol of the city itself. Also planned is a concert by pianist Maxime Zecchini, who will perform "Works for the left hand / oeuvres pour la main gauche". His composition was commissioned by the French Ministry of Defense as part of the 100th anniversary commemoration of the end of the First World War.
