Die Hamburgerin Katja wird vollkommen aus der Bahn geworfen, als ihr Mann Nuri und ihr Sohn Rocco bei einem terroristischen Bombenanschlag ums Leben kommen. Sie stürzt in eine tiefe Krise, greift zu Drogen, denkt an Selbstmord. Schließlich gelingt es der Polizei, die Attentäter zu identifizieren und zu verhaften: Es handelt sich um das Neonazi-Paar André und Edda. Andrés eigener Vater hatte die Ermittler auf die richtige Spur gebracht. Doch Katjas Hoffnung, dass die Mörder für ihr Verbrechen verurteilt werden, erfüllt sich nicht: Nach einem aufreibenden Prozess, bei dem Nuris bester Freund Danilo als Katjas Anwalt fungiert, werden Edda und André freigesprochen, aus Mangel an Beweisen. Katja ist erschüttert. Doch ihre Enttäuschung weicht bald dem Entschluss, selbst für Gerechtigkeit zu sorgen.

Vani's films have been screened and received awards, both nationally and internationally. Over the years, she has extended her practice to video art in performance, mixed media installations and pop-up digital art shows.

She is also the Creative Director ofreFrame Institute of Art and Expression, an initiative that produces, mentors and disseminates artistic efforts that respond to contemporary challenges.
