My first impression of India was…
As I arrived at night, my very first impression was that it smelt good. But to say something more essential; impressions are made from expectations and my expectation was to find it crowded and chaotic. But it wasn't like that. It seems to be a free society.
Things in Mumbai that remind me of my hometown Kranichfeld …
What reminds me most is the filmmaker I worked with - Madhuri Mohinder; because working with her was like working with my colleagues in Germany.
One thing I noticed in India ( and which is rather untypical in Germany)...
The Colors. The women dress very colorfully.
A lasting memory of India...
The sense of peace in the midst of a busy life.
The Poets Translating Poets Festival in Mumbai between 25 and 27 November 2016, organised by Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan was a major success. Poets from South Asia and Germany participated translating each other’s poetry. We celebrated literature, poetry and languages with more than 3000 Audiences and 51 Poets from 5 different countries. It took place in over 30 venues across the city, in schools, colleges, even on some street corners.
