Interdisciplinary Project
State of Nature in India

State of Nature in India aims to better understand complexities of anthropogenic processes - a term that depoliticises the current ecological crisis - and critique what it means through a focus on India. It seeks to dissolve boundaries between multiple practices by bringing together artists, cultural practitioners, natural and social scientists, policymakers, activists and thinkers, initiating cross disciplinary conversations in multiple formats. The programme began with a conference in August 2018.

Exchange Programme
Young Curators Exchange

Our first ‘Young Curators Exchange’ programme, in co-operation with HGB Leipzig, ended in October 2019. Aimed at adding a new dimension to Gallery MMB’s programme the project saw Berlin-based curator Juana Awad traveling to India in December 2018 to work with Mumbai-based curator Zeenat Nagree. The resultant exhibition, ‘as it rises into the air: listening in practice’ featured works by thirteen Indian and international artists and was on view from Aug to Oct 2019. The next iteration of this programme will be announced in 2020.
