Otto Dix - Social Criticism and War
Otto Dix has been perhaps more influential than any other German painter in shaping the popular image of the Weimar Republic of the 1920s.
The protocols of war, together with his own memories of the horrors of World War I, formed the basis of a later grandiose serial work entitled 'The War', published in 1924 by Karl Nierendorf. This series of etchings, which ranks particularly high among the main works of Dix's oeuvre, is the nucleus of this exhibition.

Walkthrough and lecture by Wiebke Trunk
Art needs up-to-date mediation formats. The subject of 'violence in pictures' has been taken up in many media in the last time. Within the ifa exhibition of graphic by Otto Dix, showing violence in war and in everyday life, the subject will be discussed and transferred into the present. Art historian Wiebke Trunk is accompanying the exhibition with introductions and lectures, and also with workshops.
