COUNSELLOR FOR ONLINE LANGUAGE COURSES

at the Goethe-Institut Kolkata
Remuneration according to the local remuneration scheme
of the Goethe-Institutes in India

The Goethe-Institut is looking for a full time (40 Hours / week) committed employee from 02.01.2026 or later (initially limited until 31.12.2026).

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide whose aims are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social, and political life.

As a counsellor for online courses, your main responsibilities, in coordination with the Language Courses and Examinations Officer (BSO), will include
  • Counselling and providing information about online- courses over telephone and via e-mail.
  • Manual registration of course participants in the software used by Goethe-Institut for course administration
  • Correction of personal details of course participants in the software used by Goethe- Institut for course administration
  • E-mail correspondence and general correspondence in German and English
  • Forwarding complaints to the Head of Online-courses
  • Sending information to existing course participants regarding upcoming higher level courses

Requirements

  • High communicative competence and confident dealing with customers in direct contact as well as on the phone and in written correspondence
  • Good to very good knowledge of written and spoken English, Hindi and Bengali
  • German language skills at least at level A2
  • Good knowledge and use of MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Willingness to familiarise yourself with the Goethe-Institut's course management software (OSKA)
  • Good organisational and coordination skills
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Completed university degree or comparable qualification
